The faithful were ready for The Greatest App ever this morning at Scott’s Collectibles. /wipes sweat from brow
Probably about 70 people or so lined up at the start of the autograph session. AE was there with his daughter and her mother. That slice of hood you see in the pic is the front end of the Armanti-mobile – a new, all black, chevy camero. /whistles
It was the AE we’ve all known and loved. No bling. No posse. Lots of yes sir/yes ma’am and him thanking fans back when they thanked him.
Never change dude. Never change.
We also gave out some AppFan.com decals/lapel buttons and met some fans. /blushes
Congrats to Appfans James and Brendan for winning our free AE ink contest. And hands down our favorite AE memory was that shared by Craig.
Dude! We totally forgot about this!
My favorite memory was when Armanti and I were flying on our unicorns, Feathers and Tom Cruise, and Armanti said, “Hey, best friend Craig, before we pick up Erin Andrews, I need to stop by Ann Arbor for a sec.” I was like, “Ok, best friend Armanti,” so we made a detour in Ann Arbor, where we landed smack in the middle of the Big House. The stands were packed with overweight midwesterners, who were all eating casseroles, and in the middle of the field Chad Henne was giving mouth-to-mouth to a dolphin. Weird, I know.
Well, Armanti dismounts, walks up to Henne, and proceeds to punch him in the throat. I was like, “Man I didn’t see that coming,” and Abe Lincoln who was standing next to me replied, “Ah, the entire Michigan program deserves to be punched in the throat.” Now this is where it gets weird: there’s a huge stage set up in one of the endzones and Springsteen is up there belting out “Dancing in the Dark.” He looks down at me and Armanti, reaches his hand out, and pulls both of on stage. I look at Armanti, and he’s like, “Dude this is so awesome!” And I’m like, “I know, it’s crazy!”
But then Appfan Midwest comes out from backstage and begins yelling out something about how Appalachian needs to move up a division instead of wallowing in the Southern Conference. A couple security guards tried to pull him off stage, but he kept shouting something about Napoleon and Appalachian joining the Big Ten, and that’s when Clarence Clemmons comes from behind and beats the hell out of App Fan Midwest with his sax.
Springsteen, Armanti, and I are laughing hysterically, when Bruce says, “Man, let’s get out of here and go grab some beers at Klondike. My treat!” That’s when Erin Andrews appears with Cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch, and she’s like, “You guys weren’t going without me?” And I was like, “girl do you think we’d forget about you?” It was absolutely crazy!
/high five
Hmmmmm, seems LaBron could learn some PR lessons from this young professional…….
Was wonderful to meet others in the faithful APP nation.
Comment by Kim 07.24.10 @ 3:05 pmROFLMAO!!!!Good Story!
Comment by General Moore 07.24.10 @ 3:08 pmI am honored to have a starring role in the LSD Chronicles listed above.
As much as I admire Armanti, my story would probably include Courtney Cox. Something like this:
And then Armanti grabbed the microphone from Springsteen and said (via Dr. Dre on the Dr.Pepper commercial), “Let’s slow it down a bit”. Then, Courtney Cox grabbed my hand and started dirty dancing with me on stage. She moved closer and whispered in my ear softly…”why would we dance in the dark, when we could be dancing back at my place”? She asked if I could bring the “young” Abe with me because Jennifer Anniston was back at her place crying over a recent breakup. Abe looked at me and gave me the secret Republican handshake and said..”let’s roll”. I was somewhat taken aback by Abe’s willingness to join me, but I didn’t say anything. He then glanced at me with a half smile and said…”Excuse me, sir, I’m just doing my duty, so let’s get moving so I can get some booty.”
The four of us celebrated our new friendships the next morning by toasting Mimosas, blended with my private stock of Asti Armant sparkling wine. Man, that was a great night!
Comment by MIDWEST 07.24.10 @ 3:36 pmIt was great to see Armanti. He continues to make the AppNation proud, a real class act. Also super to meet the other App fans there and the AppFan.com gang.
Comment by MebaneAppfan 07.24.10 @ 4:31 pmI was there in the HOT SUN, lost a quart of sweat… but it was worth it. What a humble, class act. AE was and will always be an App Champion win or lose. Now he can show the NFL how its done. I’ll be at the game in Charlotte Aug. 21st to cheer him on (wearing a new Carolina # 10 Jersey).
Comment by Brian Dunagan 07.24.10 @ 5:00 pmThere are AppFan decals?
Comment by Dan 07.24.10 @ 5:53 pmwell done! that story really does have it all!!
Comment by nomadb 07.24.10 @ 8:26 pmWhat a great day, seeing A.E., meeting J.E. from Appfan.com, and seeing that A.E’s new ride is American Muscle (Camaro SS). Also got to spend time with a good friend and college buddy from APP. Getting autographs and freebies….priceless.
Thanks Appfan.com for the contest promotion and support of all things Mountaineer.
So how long before AE is doing Chevy commercials?
Comment by Kim 07.24.10 @ 9:25 pmThanks Appfan for selecting me as the “Best Memory.” I wish I could have made the two hour trip from Chapel Hill to see our man, and be among my App brethren. I imagine that Armanti will make it to Boone this season for a game. If he does, and they announce him and have him walk out on the field at half, I promise I’ll have a lump in my throat and some watery eyes.
Comment by Craig 07.25.10 @ 6:58 amHello folks, Scott from Scott’s Collectibles here. Just wanted to say thank you to all who came to the event and those who purchased items through the mail. I know it was a HOT DAY and I hope lots of you guys took advantage of the free bottled water we had! It was an experience, a very long week getting ready, spent a ton of money on ads and had a pretty good turnout considering the heat index of over 100! If its ok with the guys here at Appfan.com we may run some other kind of contest in the future for a signed AE 8X10 photo. We had AE sign a bunch of stuff for our store after he finished up the fans (thanks you all for the support) so we have stock on AE available for any of our customers who couldn’t make the event.
And I will be the billionth guy (at least it seems that way) to drool over that SWEET RIDE!
We plan to bring AE back in at some point to do another signing during the season after the Authentic Jerseys come out so when we get AE to sign those will let you guys know.
Once again thank you to all who came out to brave a sweltering day and as a thank you, if your an APPfan.com reader and you come in the store by the 31st of this month and mention appfan.com I’ll throw in a 10% or 14% discount on all APP or Panthers merchandise in honor our AE.

So pretty much the only way I’ll ever be faster than AE is when I’m in my Mustang…which is hands down faster than his Chevy.
Comment by Rubber Biscuit 07.25.10 @ 4:29 pmI also heard that Armanti bought some parachute pants and some VANS to go with his new camaro.
Comment by MIDWEST 07.25.10 @ 6:12 pmGreat Day (Hot, but great). What a class act. It great to see that a nice signing bonus and contract have not changed AE in the least.
Comment by Appfan1989 07.25.10 @ 7:39 pmMust say as high as my expectations were he exceeded them. A Class act from the start. He gave us all the time we wanted. Took a great pic with the kids. There is so much the rest of the NFL will learn from him besides his blazing speed and elusiveness. I have a strong feeling this is going to be an incredible year for Armanti…none of this waiting for a season or 12 to figure it out.
Comment by Tambo 07.25.10 @ 8:22 pmHave we switched from Nike to Addidas? I was at the Mall this weekend and they have a pretty large App Section. Everything had addidas on it?
Comment by AppOrange 07.25.10 @ 9:45 pmThat’s a clever deal with the 14 and 10 % discounts. What if we mention Langston Tanyi?
Comment by clayton 07.26.10 @ 6:32 amI am waiting for the Authentic and Premier Jerseys to come out. Those things are awesome! I think they hit the streets in November or so I have been told.
Comment by asu7 07.26.10 @ 7:53 amasu7 – huh?
Comment by Dan 07.26.10 @ 9:33 amAppOrange-
Were you at Sports Fanatic? Reason there is a lot of addidas stuff in there is because all the Nike apparell sells out quick. Sports Fanatic’s Nike shipment hasnt all been delivered, but several items have. They look awesome. Just ask next time.
Comment by C 07.26.10 @ 10:13 amDoes Scott’s Collectibles have a website?
Comment by StuckinLodi 07.26.10 @ 11:24 amINSANE CLOWN POSSE at it again.

Comment by herbstreitsucks 07.26.10 @ 2:32 pmThe jerseys that have the stitched numbers and names.
Comment by asu7 07.26.10 @ 2:51 pmSweet. Didn’t know about those… hopefully it’ll drive down the price on the authentics they already sell.
Comment by Dan 07.26.10 @ 3:02 pmI heard that a certain person from Duncan, South Carolina will become his brother’s position coach.
Comment by clayton 07.26.10 @ 3:03 pmSo vague Clayton, yet so informative.
Comment by herbstreitsucks 07.26.10 @ 3:25 pmGreat. More white people.
Comment by Dan 07.26.10 @ 3:38 pmFor what it’s worth Dan, several African American coaches apparently interviewed but Coach Moore made the decision on who he thought was the best fit and coach. Makes sense to me. Or were you being sarcastic?
Comment by Fleetwood App 07.26.10 @ 4:29 pmTrey is going to be WRs coach? How will that work?
Dan – The premier jerseys are awesome. I doubt they drive the cost of anything down though. I am betting the premiers will be around 120. They are way more durable tho. I wear my Williams jersey a lot and it still looks new.
Comment by asu7 07.26.10 @ 4:32 pmI would like to see more diversity on the coaching staff, but I also want us to hire the best person for th job. If they’re all white or all black or all green, I don’t care. Hire the best person for the position.
Comment by appfanmidwest 07.26.10 @ 4:39 pmasu7 – They have stitched numbers and they’re only $120? Last I looked a new authentic was running between $150 and $200.
Comment by Dan 07.26.10 @ 4:46 pmIf we are 0-2 after our first two games this year, the coaches will be a sickly shade of green.
Comment by appfanmidwest 07.26.10 @ 5:43 pmIt’s a small world….I’m in Shanghai, China this week and wore my Appalachian Stae t-shirt to the Shanghai market place….the guy that just built a statue at ASU and his son spotted me and came over to chat!!!! Small world indeed….
Comment by madapp 07.26.10 @ 8:25 pmI was at the Chop House at the Braves game last week (having a few B. Quick Grooves) before the Padres game. I look down and see a guy with a faded App State tshirt on with a newer looking UNC cap.
How pathetic? Either you’re a fan or not. Make a decision. Give us your commitment. Either come strong or don’t come at all.
Yea, I know, that’s what she said.
Comment by MIDWEST 07.26.10 @ 8:30 pmYep. I got my stitched Williams Jersey for 89.99 at Finish Line.
I was confused. The replica jerseys (what they have now) are screen printed. They go for about 80 bucks. The premier jerseys have stitched names and numbers. They go from 100 and up usually. The authentic jerseys are the mac daddy of all jerseys. If you had pads you could suit up with the team with these things.
I prefer the premiers because they are lighter and a whole lot cheaper than the authentics. They are more durable since they are stitched as well.
I contacted the Panthers Store and they said they would have premiers for AE in black around November. These will probably go for about 120 at the start. For 30 more bucks it is well worth it. I have owned both replica and premier. If you really want to get a good deal wait till about Christmas time and look for these at your local sports store (Finish Line, Champs and so on). These things are usually on sale around Christmas.
I hope to get my AE premier in November. I have tickets to the Bengals game 10 rows from the field. As much as I would love to sport a AE jersey, I am going to wait for the good ones.
Replica (screen printed) – 89-99 (they have these now)
Premier (stitching) – 120 and up (coming November hopefully)
Authentic (You can play) – 300 (yeah I dunno when they are getting these)
Now you can customize your own premier AE jersey right now if you want.
Comment by asu7 07.27.10 @ 9:06 amOhh, you mean Panthers jerseys. Sorry dude, I thought you were talking about new App jerseys.
Comment by Dan 07.27.10 @ 9:28 amYep Panther jerseys. I wish APP had jerseys like the NFL makes. That would be awesome!
Comment by asu7 07.27.10 @ 10:06 amTraining Camp begins today!
Comment by JMcCray 07.28.10 @ 11:13 amLoved the auto session and enjoyed the store, very nice store, a nascar heaven.
It was a lot of fun and Armanti is a great guy. Its always fun to watch the crazies, I’m the one in the tye die shirt on the picture by the door, lol.
