Panthers just getting rid of everyone now
Monday March 08th 2010, 1:44 pm

We actually are kinda bummed about this .. but just a littleFirst Peppers went (and celebrated). Then Delhomme cut (and fans celebrated). Now this – “Fullback Brad Hoover, one of the more popular players on the Carolina Panthers roster, was released Monday, according to safety Chris Harris on his Twitter feed.”

WOOHOO!!!! It keeps getting better! Now if we could fire John Fox and Marty Hurney dang we would be rolling. IMHO Dellhomme or Fox had to go. Carolina was doomed if both had stayed.

CLEANING HOUSE!!!! Peppers leaving is good as well and will free up lots of monies to be given to young talent joining the team this year and bumping up the salaries of the young talent that we have now that have been performing. Now is not the time to be cheap!

Hate to burst the bubble asu7, but that looks like exactly what is going on (i.e. ‘being cheap’). I realize they tendered Moore fiarly high, but they didn’t really have an option there. As much as it was the right move cutting Jake, it still sucks because of what he meant in the locker room and how much he evidently cared about being here. You think somebody like Pep would have been upset at getting 12.5 mil to sit at home?

All of these moves are positive. New blood is needed across the board.

I hate to see Hoov released. He’s been a dependable FB for the Panthers. Maybe they’ll retain him to coach up the new FB they drafted last year.

I agree there should be turnover on the roster, but to date they have brought in exactly… no one. I think they signed some DT away from the powerhouse Rams. Well done guys.

Isn’t Hoover about the only WCU grad in the NFL right now? Not that we have much room to boast on that score.

Hey, the ratio is 3:1 (and about to go up to 4:1).

Make room for AE

I think they are trying to get rid of the older fellas. Hoov was getting up there. I think they are going to invest in some younger talent. Next year we can write off and probably the year after that. We are going to be rebuilding big time. Time for some young blood to energize the rebuilding process.

The good news with Hoov leaving, I seriously doubt they can get rid of DWill or Stewart now. I believe they will have to keep them both.

If they get rid of either one of their backs then we can hang it up because we just screwed up our identity as a run first team. With the most elite tandem in the NFL we will be big time in the years to come. Seperate them and we will be blunders.

I heard the difference between keeping pep and letting him go was 6mil.

Doesn’t surprise me too much. He’s been a mainstay for the Panthers, I think, since the beginning. In other words, he’s getting up there in age. I’m sure they can find another fullback with a brighter future. Though, it will be hard to find someone with Brad’s character.

Just making more room to sign AE to that big contract! :-)

Peps said in an interview it wasn’t about money, it was more of a philosophical disagreement. He wanted to be the highest paid defensive player, but that price went up since their last contract offer to him and they refused to mortgage the foreseeable future for just one guy. Doesn’t really bother me. For that kind of money, i’m sure we can find someone willing to play at least 60% of the downs they’re on the field for.

CHECK THIS OUT!! This is Armanti’s newest Journal update, just posted 30 minutes or so ago… this is an excerpt:

“Right now the only private workout is with Carolina. I have a rescheduled workout with the Colts and Dolphins because they can’t make it to my pro day. The Panthers workout will be on March 18th. All of these workouts will be held in school. The Panthers have been showing a good amount of interest more than any team.”

Oh yeah. Sweeeeet Caroline…

Careful–I always liked Neil Diamond. Not sure I’m comfortable having his music linked with the Panthers.

Comment by DRM 03.08.10 @ 5:47 pm

DRM, That’s too bad because the fans sing it in Bank of America Stadium after every Carolina Panthers win… it’s played over the loud speakers.

I guess you’re just going to have to become a Panther die-hard.

Comment by appstategrad2008 03.08.10 @ 6:56 pm

The Panthers are more like “Brother Love’s Travelin’ Salvation Show” now that Jake has become a “Solitary Man” and Peppers’ big time “I Am I Said” has him headed to Chicago in a “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” moment.

Chicago, hmmmmm, “Questions 67 and 68″…nope,not going there.

Delhomme I can understand as he should have been gone a year or more ago. Don’t get me wrong, he was great, but at some point you have to look to the future. As for Peppers…I don’t like the attitude he adopted last year. Yeah he’s a special player, yeah he’s a physical freak, but attitude is everything. Now getting rid of Hoover is just flat out dumb. He’s a great blocking fullback which is perfect for Carolina’s power running offense and he has good enough hands to be at least a concern outside of the backfield. Not to mention that true fullbacks are harder and harder to come by. The college game is moving away from power football and more towards the spread and finesse. True fullbacks are going to be harder and harder to come by.

I wonder who we can today? If you are over 28 you better be hanging on to your jersey for dear life.

Comment by asu7 03.09.10 @ 8:37 am

drafting Edwards is the only thing that could make me like the dog ass Panthers.
