UNCC WILL play football – “UNC Charlotte trustees agreed Friday to move ahead with starting a football team by 2013, supporting a plan that means students may pay up to $320 more in annual fees.” And there was much rejoicing! .. Uh, NOT! Just rub it in whydontcha. Not that App State is immune.
Wow! 20 grand to graduate ASU in 4 years.
Comment by herbstreitsucks 12.14.09 @ 1:37 pmI know one damn thing. We need to go FBS before they get their program ramped up. I’m still saying we’ll be FBS by 2013. In the meantime, let’s win another national championship in 2010!!!

Comment by Dan 12.14.09 @ 2:31 pm$2,500 per year tuition? That seem’s amazingly little to me. Surely that’s about the lowest among the 16 (17? Does the School of Math/Science count?) UNC-system schools.
Naysayer?
Comment by DRM 12.14.09 @ 2:42 pmDRM that doesn’t include fees. I think App is about the lowest in the state, but by the time you add in all of the fees it ends up being just over 10,000 per year if you’re in a dorm.
Comment by appscholar09 12.14.09 @ 2:46 pmVERY LOW. I’m not sure about lowest. At 10 grand a year, it’s still way underpriced. I always chuckle when I hear students complain about tuition. The state literally foots the bill for about 80% of the costs when it’s all added up. Athletic “fees” are nominal, too, compared to costs of Yosef membership, tickets, etc. I’m still not in favor of jobbing students for athletic fees, though. They should at least get to vote on it.
One thing I do note about some state schools in the CAA–a couple there have (with the overwhelming approval of a student vote) instituted fee increases for faculty salaries during the economic downturn. Priorities in order, etc etc etc.
Comment by Appnaysayer 12.14.09 @ 2:53 pmYes, I know we’re talking only about tuition, ‘09. But fee structures vary from school to school, whereas every school has tuition; that’s more easily compared head-to-head with other schools. Definitely not a fair (or legitimate) comparison, but tuition at most any respected private school is five to ten times the rate at ASU.
Comment by DRM 12.14.09 @ 2:58 pmWhen it comes to academics I can say I didn’t really get the value I was expecting when attending ASU. I’m not bashing ASU by any means. For if I didn’t have this degree there is no telling where I would have ended up.
However after transferring from a tech school, I learned a whole lot more there and didn’t have to jump through any hoops. However the technical school didn’t have a Championship football team. College is way too over priced these days when considering most professors are just trying to feed you a bunch of libreal bull. I did enjoy my time in Boone though. No telling what’s like at a large school.
Comment by herbstreitsucks 12.14.09 @ 3:55 pmi went to clemson for a year before transfering to app. i spent more in tuition that year due to being out of state as i did in 5 years at app. but it took some adjusting come from clemson to app. school are not to different in undergrad enrollment but clemson felt huge compared to app.
Comment by Ry_ATO 12.14.09 @ 4:12 pmum, not to be a nit-picker, but the countdown clock is 2 hours off. Or if appfan is calculating for daylight savings, 1 hour off.

Comment by herbstreitsucks 12.14.09 @ 4:36 pmNit-pick away–accuracy on the countdown clock is very important!
Comment by DRM 12.14.09 @ 4:37 pmWhat a cool picture! I have to admit, it brought tears to my eyes. Yes, he certainly did give his all to App St.
