There are 22K seats and the W&M game only brought 17K. No way it is a sellout. We probably do bring more fans, though.

I agree, DRM. There’s been some talk (not just “Throwin this out there” Kidd Brewer) that we may change our uniform design after this year. It scares the crap out of me what we might wind up wearing, being under contract to Nike and all. I don’t dislike what we’re wearing now, but that’s the limit on “busy”. I know of at least 3 other college programs and several high school teams that have worn the same jersey design as ours right now. Richmond shows that you can have Nike unis and maintain K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, Stupid).

That’s what I’m screaming Gwalt. They need to be reminded this weekend they only own 1 of those 4 they’re advertising.

I really feel like the crowd could be a factor in this game; one that will benefit us. I went to Elon and it was crazy when the home team came out to defining boos. We had a home field advantage there and we will here too. It may be much farther away, but I don’t see there being a limit on the amount of tickets our fans get their hands on. It’s like another ECU. Any momentum we build in the game will be intensified by the loudest crowd since they came to Boone last year. Lets go! Oh and I can’t wait to show up their tailgating like we did at Elon too. Go App!!!!

Putting our logo where they did really emphasizes the first three letters in titans. I don’t know how they roll in Richmond. But, I’d expect to see at least 5,000 Mountaineers in the stadium.

It was attractive at the time, Gwalt, but that’s in the past. The signature of the program is now the block A–I’m solidly with Taylor on that, and I also prefer black hats to gold ones (especially since our “gold” is now Microsoft bright yellow). I don’t care for the sleeve stripes of throwbacks, either–they look, well, like throwbacks.

It’s all a matter of personal taste, but to me the UR design is simple and classy looking. Substitute our “gold” and black for their red and blue, and that would be a very attractive road look, in my opinion; it would also translate well to home blacks.

Let’s go full time to the throwback uni’s we wore against Jacksonville. Those things rocked and I think most people like them…what do you guys think?

New Poll. I’m for the old yosef with the corn cob pipe. I’m with Gwalt and yosef83 on this one. I guess we’re the nostalgic group.

I much preferred the old gold helmets and Yosef (like Gwalt’s tattoo) to many of the subsequent logos, the absolute worst of which was that snow-capped A we used briefly. My next favorite was the “flying Yosef” from, I believe, the 80s. But Moore’s block A is classic, and classy–definitely the best logo we’ve ever had, in my opinion.

If you guys remember the old gold and Gwalt tattoo logo, you may not be as much younger than I as you think!

Regardless, we need to wear black helmets, black jerseys, and black pants at The Rock.

The snow-capped A was Mike Working’s creation. Those weren’t added to the solid gold helmets (presumably Working was a big Notre Dame fan) until just before the Wake game that year (1982). Kind of a motivational thing. When he got fired he wouldn’t let the athletic dept. keep it, as he owned the copyright. Mack Brown switched to black helmets with the “flying Yosef” or “swoosh Yosef” the following year (1983). Sparky Woods stuck with those until Jerry came along and the block A was instituted (1989). Just a little ASU helmet history.

My preferences, in order:

the Moore block A (black helmets)

the Brown/Woods flying/swooshing Yosef (black helmets)

the Messere/Brakefield/Gwalt tattoo Yosef, on old gold helmets (distant third)

the snow-capped A? Not even on the page for consideration.

I think we should build a horseshoe stadium, but leave the field house area open for the mountain view. Maybe tear it down and place a giant ROCK where the field house was. That would be pretty damn cool. Montana stadium looks kind of neat.

Closing in the grassy bank would seem the logical next expansion move. Don’t think I’d want seats in that section though, because as several have pointed out, our track problem would push that area way away from the action.

finally some people like midwest are on board with me about kidd brewer. yes we lead the fcs in attendence, but montana’s got the ideal setting. no track, fans close to the action, fans cand noise coming from every direction. whhy do most schools put student sections in the endzones?? louderrrr
i have to agree with midwest montanas set up is nice.

Montana has a nice facility–in the middle of a parking lot. We have a nice facility in a great setting.

It would be good, though, if we didn’t have the track, more so for end zone “seating” than anything else. People on the grassy bank are at least 30 yards from the field.
