The Spiders are hyping the big game just right! But with four days to go, tickets are still available. And not only is it a HUGE playoff game, it also just may be the last game ever in Richmond Stadium. So we ask …
Why not have a pic of Armanti passing beside of the UR guy running instead of Cortez falling.
Oh and there are two A’s in that Title. The App logo would fit nicely on both A’s.
Comment by herbstreitsucks formerly grudensucks 12.01.09 @ 10:13 amProbably because it was made by Richmond so they are going to promote their players better than Apps…
Comment by Joe 12.01.09 @ 10:18 amAny word on AE?
Been doing a bit of reading…..
PROBABLE OUTCOME – Sprained Knee
If this is a first-time injury, proper care and sufficient healing time before resuming activity should prevent permanent disability. Ligaments have a poor blood supply, and torn ligaments require as much healing time as fractures. Average healing times are:
# Mild sprains–2 to 6 weeks.
# Moderate sprains–6 to 8 weeks.
# Severe sprains–8 weeks to 10 months.

Comment by Appstater84 12.01.09 @ 10:19 amI feel like Richmond’s marketing team would rather show a picture of a Spider triumphing over a Mountaineer and probably didn’t even want one block A…much less two.
Pictures are good for the interwebs, but i have a feeling the guys in black and gold are looking to spoil some repeat hype circling around Virginia this week. Hopefully it will be hard to find a picture like the one in their ticket banner after this weekend’s game…
Comment by Geoff 12.01.09 @ 10:20 amIt’s from Richmond’s website, herbie/gruden/everybodysucks. Pretty cool that our logo & a player is on there at all.
Comment by yosef83 12.01.09 @ 10:20 amI dislike Richmond. But they have attractive uniforms. Less busy than ours.
Comment by DRM 12.01.09 @ 10:24 amThere are 22K seats and the W&M game only brought 17K. No way it is a sellout. We probably do bring more fans, though.
I wish I could watch the W&M v S. Ill game, but I’ll be driving up to Richmond.
we should have 3 A’s since we’ve got three of the 4 championships they are using to sell these tickets.
Comment by Gwaltineer 12.01.09 @ 10:38 amI agree, DRM. There’s been some talk (not just “Throwin this out there” Kidd Brewer) that we may change our uniform design after this year. It scares the crap out of me what we might wind up wearing, being under contract to Nike and all. I don’t dislike what we’re wearing now, but that’s the limit on “busy”. I know of at least 3 other college programs and several high school teams that have worn the same jersey design as ours right now. Richmond shows that you can have Nike unis and maintain K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, Stupid).
Comment by yosef83 12.01.09 @ 10:38 amThat’s what I’m screaming Gwalt. They need to be reminded this weekend they only own 1 of those 4 they’re advertising.
Comment by herbstreitsucks formerly grudensucks 12.01.09 @ 10:57 ami still can’t believe that no regional tv station has picked this game up yet.
Comment by Jeremy 12.01.09 @ 11:10 amIs ESPN 360 only on the computer or can we watch it at the bar??
Comment by T-Money 12.01.09 @ 11:15 amYou can watch it on TV if you or your local watering hole purchases the ESPN gameplan.
Comment by Jon 12.01.09 @ 11:33 amI’ll be there and I’m trying to get a group to fill a charter bus. If you’re coming from the Charlotte, G’boro, or Raleigh area and are interested please send me a note. Cost is $35 and the bus will return following the game. You can’t beat that with a stick – a driver, less than the cost of gas (close for the Raleigh folks), and a bus full of Mountaineers!

Comment by CDJ 12.01.09 @ 11:47 amHow much is the cheapest ticket to the game, anyone know?
Comment by parking lot 12.01.09 @ 12:04 pmCDJ- I’m in raleigh, what time will the buss be leaving?
Comment by bob 12.01.09 @ 12:08 pmEvery ticket is $25 unless your under 12 years old
Comment by bob 12.01.09 @ 12:09 pmShould I make a 3>1 sign or is that to Georgia Southerny?
Comment by Taylor 12.01.09 @ 12:09 pmtoo georgia southerny…
not to be looking ahead…but he’re some live action from how rocking montana was during that comback with a less than full crowd like us.
aboutthe 40 second mark place gets rocking..we need to pack richmond and show that we are the powerhouse in fcs.

Bus is leaving Charlotte at 10am (may adjust depending on number of stops), but I would estimate a Ral pickup around 1-1:30…sound right? Hope to be in Richmond by 3-3:30.
Comment by CDJ 12.01.09 @ 12:30 pmAnyone know anyway to find out how many tickets have currently sold?
Comment by chalmersjn 12.01.09 @ 1:00 pmI really feel like the crowd could be a factor in this game; one that will benefit us. I went to Elon and it was crazy when the home team came out to defining boos. We had a home field advantage there and we will here too. It may be much farther away, but I don’t see there being a limit on the amount of tickets our fans get their hands on. It’s like another ECU. Any momentum we build in the game will be intensified by the loudest crowd since they came to Boone last year. Lets go! Oh and I can’t wait to show up their tailgating like we did at Elon too. Go App!!!!
Comment by Taylor 12.01.09 @ 1:03 pmDRM, I would love new uniforms. We need to go back to the ‘89 throw backs, but put Yosef on the helmit. I like it any time the mascot makes the helmit.
Comment by Gwaltineer 12.01.09 @ 1:13 pmNo way. The block A must always be on the helmet.
Comment by Taylor 12.01.09 @ 1:16 pmThe Charter bus sounds great for someone like me. Beats the drive if I’m able to get on it.
Comment by Carsonjp17 12.01.09 @ 1:31 pmTHE MARCHING MOUNTAINEERS WILL BE THERE!!!!!!!!!!! ALL 270 OF THEM!!!!!!!
Comment by appband 12.01.09 @ 2:06 pmWonder why ESPN GamePlan doesn’t show the APp game on the schedule for 12/5/09?
Comment by Old Fan 12.01.09 @ 2:37 pmwe had gold helmits back in the day that had the old corn pipe Yosef. it was awesome.
Comment by Gwaltineer 12.01.09 @ 2:46 pmwhere will that bus be picking up people in raleigh?
Comment by bob 12.01.09 @ 2:59 pmPutting our logo where they did really emphasizes the first three letters in titans. I don’t know how they roll in Richmond. But, I’d expect to see at least 5,000 Mountaineers in the stadium.
Comment by clayton 12.01.09 @ 3:26 pmIt was attractive at the time, Gwalt, but that’s in the past. The signature of the program is now the block A–I’m solidly with Taylor on that, and I also prefer black hats to gold ones (especially since our “gold” is now Microsoft bright yellow). I don’t care for the sleeve stripes of throwbacks, either–they look, well, like throwbacks.
It’s all a matter of personal taste, but to me the UR design is simple and classy looking. Substitute our “gold” and black for their red and blue, and that would be a very attractive road look, in my opinion; it would also translate well to home blacks.
Comment by DRM 12.01.09 @ 3:33 pmLet’s go full time to the throwback uni’s we wore against Jacksonville. Those things rocked and I think most people like them…what do you guys think?
Comment by Dominick 12.01.09 @ 3:43 pmUgly. But not nearly as bad as those yellow jerseys we wore this year.
Comment by DRM 12.01.09 @ 3:54 pmGot my Ticket for 5 Bucks..
(Student)
New Poll. I’m for the old yosef with the corn cob pipe. I’m with Gwalt and yosef83 on this one. I guess we’re the nostalgic group.
Comment by herbstreitsucks formerly grudensucks 12.01.09 @ 4:12 pmI much preferred the old gold helmets and Yosef (like Gwalt’s tattoo) to many of the subsequent logos, the absolute worst of which was that snow-capped A we used briefly. My next favorite was the “flying Yosef” from, I believe, the 80s. But Moore’s block A is classic, and classy–definitely the best logo we’ve ever had, in my opinion.
If you guys remember the old gold and Gwalt tattoo logo, you may not be as much younger than I as you think!
Comment by DRM 12.01.09 @ 4:41 pmRegardless, we need to wear black helmets, black jerseys, and black pants at The Rock.
Comment by yosef83 12.01.09 @ 6:42 pmThe snow-capped A was Mike Working’s creation. Those weren’t added to the solid gold helmets (presumably Working was a big Notre Dame fan) until just before the Wake game that year (1982). Kind of a motivational thing. When he got fired he wouldn’t let the athletic dept. keep it, as he owned the copyright. Mack Brown switched to black helmets with the “flying Yosef” or “swoosh Yosef” the following year (1983). Sparky Woods stuck with those until Jerry came along and the block A was instituted (1989). Just a little ASU helmet history.
Comment by yosef83 12.01.09 @ 6:54 pmMy preferences, in order:
the Moore block A (black helmets)
the Brown/Woods flying/swooshing Yosef (black helmets)
the Messere/Brakefield/Gwalt tattoo Yosef, on old gold helmets (distant third)
the snow-capped A? Not even on the page for consideration.
Comment by DRM 12.01.09 @ 7:26 pmI think we should build a horseshoe stadium, but leave the field house area open for the mountain view. Maybe tear it down and place a giant ROCK where the field house was. That would be pretty damn cool. Montana stadium looks kind of neat.
Comment by appfanmidwest 12.01.09 @ 7:34 pmClosing in the grassy bank would seem the logical next expansion move. Don’t think I’d want seats in that section though, because as several have pointed out, our track problem would push that area way away from the action.
Comment by DRM 12.01.09 @ 7:37 pmgive the grassy bank seating to the away team!!!!
Comment by asuneers17 12.01.09 @ 8:15 pmOf course! Excellent idea–their fans and, should they bring it, their band!
Comment by DRM 12.01.09 @ 8:23 pmKeep the grassy bank and put stands on top of it.
By the way, I like having a rival band in the stadium. It adds to the energy.
Comment by Scott 12.01.09 @ 8:43 pmNot opposed to rival bands, just to providing them with premium seating.
Comment by DRM 12.01.09 @ 8:48 pmI may have 2 extra tickets to the game for face value if anyone is interested. Tickets will be located on the visitor’s side. You must be an APP FAN!!!
Email me if you are interested. I should know for sure by lunch tomorrow. pizzalover24@hotmail.com
Comment by asu7 12.01.09 @ 9:23 pmI called gameplan and the schedule will come out thursday for this weekend
Comment by Ryan Brown 12.01.09 @ 9:49 pmMASN picked up our game.
Comment by asu7 12.01.09 @ 10:33 pmprepare for snow sat night, that looks like the case……
Comment by Rob 12.01.09 @ 11:57 pmBring the snow on. Only the Mountaineers know how to play in the snow. We are not afaird of the cold or the snow.
Comment by mtdrago 12.02.09 @ 12:26 amSweet!! Snow!! I cant wait until saturday night fellas!!
Comment by bob 12.02.09 @ 2:16 amspiders cant survive snow so that would be sweet if it does snow….
Comment by Rob 12.02.09 @ 2:41 amon a diff subj, has anyone ever ordered stuff from the app store on this site? i made an order last sat and cannot reach the store by email and the phone number is not in serv, and i got an email saying shipping 2-3 weeks?? that is crazy….
Comment by Rob 12.02.09 @ 2:43 amI will for sure have 2 extra tickets if anyone is interested let me know.
BEAT UR!
Comment by asu7 12.02.09 @ 8:49 amfinally some people like midwest are on board with me about kidd brewer. yes we lead the fcs in attendence, but montana’s got the ideal setting. no track, fans close to the action, fans cand noise coming from every direction. whhy do most schools put student sections in the endzones?? louderrrr
i have to agree with midwest montanas set up is nice.
Montana has a nice facility–in the middle of a parking lot. We have a nice facility in a great setting.
It would be good, though, if we didn’t have the track, more so for end zone “seating” than anything else. People on the grassy bank are at least 30 yards from the field.
