S. Illinois – the true #1 team even though the polls might pick Montana.
Montana – With their schedule and how they have done. They should probably be about #4 or #5. Idaho St is a winless team. Montana should have had no problem with them. The final was 12 to 10 Montana. Montana may be the Iowa of FCS and look what to Iowa this week.
Villanova – thank you for beating Richmond.
Richmond – Down but not out. Might even still get some first place votes. Longest Winning Streak in FCS is now held by both Montana and Bulter at 9.
William & Mary – impressive shoutout against Towson
Elon – Are you ready for the Big Game? App St at Elon 3:00pm 11/14/2009. Are you ready to rumble?
Appalachian State – simply destroy Elon – Lets ROCK this stadium. I want to see lots of App St fans. I expect 13 to 14 thousand at this games. Rhodes Stadium can not hold more than 12 thousand.
New Hampshire – Do you have any denfense?
South Carolina St – #1 on the Sheridan Broadcasting Network Black College Football Poll. What the hell kind of poll is this? Will not get a home game due to the Confederate Flag rule.
Northern Iowa – Can a team with 3 losses actual get a home playoff game??
McNeese St, Stephen F Austin, SE Louisana, & Texas St – still in a four way tie in the Southland. Beware Central Arkansas in still a very good team and cause any these team to be knock out of playoffs and lose their conference.
Holy Cross a Patroit team gets #12. Is this the highest seed for a Patroit team?? Well it must be the highest seed in a long time at least.
South Dakota St – Hopefully this team does not lose it. They have to play FBS Minnesota and W. Illinois. This would be a good team to knock out Montana in the first round.
Liberty – I would say you are in the playoffs, but you better keep winning. Remember how the voters treated you last year.
Weber St – One of two teams with four losses in the Top 25.
Prairie View A&M – I believe this is their highest ranking ever. Now they cannot go to the Playoffs because the SWAC does not send a team. Will the SWAC let them play in the SWAC conference championship??
Florida A&M can they became the second MEAC to made the playoffs??
Lafayette great win against Colgate. Wait, you the beat the wrong team. Even if you would have loss that game you still would have to be Holy Cross. You will get they chance this weekend. Good Luck!!

App St goes to Montana. App St is too much for Montana. Another 50 point game and App St moves on.

New Hampshire at Richmond – Richmond is starting a new win streak – beats New Hampshire 34-31.
Appalachian St at Villanova – Appalachian continues their offense destruction and wins 55-35.

FCS Championship at Chattanooga
Richmond vs Appalachain State. App St plays a great game however loses 32-30. Richmond Repeats. Damm those Spiders. I have not change my mind yet, but yes Richmond can be beaten.

All that buildup in several posts of analysis only to tear us down??? I don’t see that many top ranked teams making it deep into the playoffs. There are always some unexpected upsets. I think we have a SHOT at getting some home cooking in the playoffs as long as we take care of business these last 2 weeks. It may take a little help from other schools, but I think we should be in position to hope for homefield.

We can talk about Elon now…and Nova beating Richmond may hurt our seeding chances.

clayton – IF we win the conference w/ an undefeated record, we should still land at least in the 4 slot regardless of what else happens. Beat Elon.

Could you humor us a little and change the finals to App 32 Richmond 30?

Honestly, I thiink we’ll have a tough time making it past the second round if we play like we did on Saturday. I’m just saying that the level of competition will be far superior to what we have seen so far and we have really struggled on D this year. If our offense breaks down, we are in big time trouble.

I still think Elon is overrated, so if they kick our asses on Saturday, that is not a good predictor of how the playoffs will go.

Also, consider that Elon’s out of conference games were against Davidson and Presbyterian. Our were against ECU and McNeese. As painful as those loses were, it makes us more battle tested going into Elon and the playoffs.

Has anyone ever gotten an email from App inviting them to the game? I’ve always thought that we should do a better job drumming up Alumni support to attend games. We should partner with a hotel/resort and put together family packages, guys packages, girls weekend packages, and really promote it to alumni. Some people just need their arms twisted a little to get off the damn couch.

I got an email about an Alumni tailgate for the App game, I think. Elon also played Wake Forest, Westie.

Dannyboy, you’re probably right, and I can’t keep up with their schedules but, I’m not sold that a 2 loss Richmond or Billy & Mary team would take a backseat to us, seed wise. We’ll see what happens.

clay – not that i have any special insight into the seeding process, but i find it hard to believe that a 2 loss at large team would be seeded ahead of an undefeated conference champ.

If I were Cobb (I assume he’s still on the committee), I’d be throwing 2007 in their face (2 loss team with an FBS win). Elon first, I know.

I really think once we got that 21-0 lead, the coaching staff was trying to be vanilla to hide our game plan from Elon. Chatty and Elon have similar offenses so our defense was not sending any blitzes to put pressure on the QB. Once they got within 1 point, we started sending blitzes and they could not move the ball.

I really think (and hope) we were trying to hide the play calling from Elon and it ended up biting us.

Since most of us are going to be seated “on the grass” @ Eloan, does anyone know if they allow folding chairs in Dusty Rhodes “stadium”? Never been there before.

I think that Joe has it pretty close to right on the money. I dont know if it was to hide the playbook some, but we definately dialed down the pressure on defense for the first drive of the second half, then the defense got tired (can you blame them) Really cant wait to get Mcduffie back, he is a difference maker.

And the Terrell Hudgins shrine Elon has up on their sports page makes me want to beat them even more.

Does anyone know if the game will be streamed on the web anywhere?

yall were talking about hypothecial playoff scenario’s and mentioned that if richmond has 2 losses we should be sseded ahead. Well, just a reminder they did go on the road and beat duke. Yes its duke, but duke is actually solid this year..

We went on the road and beat Michigan, then lost two FCS games. The win in Ann Arbor didn’t help us with seeding; at best, we were the number five seed in 2007.

mgood89, here’s another reason to beat ‘em (as if we needed any reason beyond conference championship and guaranteed playoff berth): Sagarin favors Elon by roughly seven. His computers still have ASU down at #126 (of 245 total D1 (FCS and FBS) teams. Based on that, we’re barely in the top half of all of D1 football.

There is no 5 seed.

The only things that bit us were two interceptions and two scores off of onside kicks. The play calling wasn’t the issue. After seeing AE throw those two INT’s I reminded myself that the head coach was Richmonds Defense coach when they intercepted Armanti 5 times. Sure makes your heart sink when you see him throw more than one in a game because it’s so atypical of “money” man.

Which was my point, Clayton–the Michigan win didn’t get us a seed. Keep up, will ya?

I thought the defense played very well Saturday. We didn’t give up any big plays. They had a few decent plays, but nothing major. Our secondary has got to stop falling for those pump-fakes, but all-in-all, good game!

I agree with everybodysucks, we had a couple mistakes on offense….otherwise, the game would’ve probably been 56-20 and TC would’ve played the 4th!

We are right where we want to be with our fate in our own hands. 2007, we needed help because we lost 2 conference games. Coach always says our #1 goal is to win the conference. We can do that Saturday.

Absolutely correct. As far as I’m aware, the Sagarin ratings don’t enter into FCS playoff selections, either.
