Wilford Brimley as seen in the new Red Dawn remakeSome of the stats you need to know heading into Week Nine.

1 – Statistical SoCon rank of Armanti Edwards in total offensive yards per game, 345.3
5 – Number of SoCon teams averaging fewer yards per game
67 – Number of FCS teams averaging fewer yards per game (AE alone ranks 51st in total offense among FCS teams)

12,855 – Career offensive yards by Armanti Edwards
153 – Yards needed for Edwards to become No. 5 all-time in FCS in total career yards
1,865 – Yards needed for Edwards to become No. 2 (That’s probably out of reach, but ya never know)

13 – National rank of Devon Moore in rushing, 99.9 yards a game
26 – National rank of Moore in all-purpose yards, 131.7 yards a game
23 – National rank of Moore in scoring, 7.71 pts a game (He has one more TD than AE, but played in one more game than AE did)

7.14 – Average receptions per game by Furman’s Adam Mims, 8th best nationally
13 – Passing TDs by Furman, second most in SoCon
1 – Number of those TD passes to Mims (Closer to the end zone, the less dangerous he is)

12 – Number of consecutive seasons App State has played Wofford, GSU and Furman
11 – Number of those seasons during which App State played the trio in consecutive weekends
1 – Number of times App State has gone 3-0 through that gauntlet, last season (Now can we do it again?)

9 – Number of games, since 1977, when App State gained more than 400 yards rushing
6 – Number of those games played in the past three seasons
4 – Number of those games in the past two seasons (Can we make that 5?)

4 – Number of consecutive wins App State owns against Furman
7 – Number of App State wins in its last eight games against Furman
0 – Number of times in the entire 39-game series that App State has won consecutive games in Greenville (That’s actually a pretty impressive stat, can’t wait to see it buried)

42.3 – Percentage of App State TD drives last season that lasted two minutes or less, 30 of 71
37.5 – Percentage of App State TD drives this season that lasted two minutes or less, 12 of 32
58.3 – Percentage of App State TD drives in the past two games that lasted two minutes or less, 7 of 12 (Warming up …)

0 – Number of App State sacks after two games this season
16 – Number of sacks in the five games since
5 – Number of sacks allowed by Furman, fewest in SoCon and 2nd fewest nationally (Ooooo! A new challenge!)

4 – Number of SoCon teams with a record above .500, App State, Elon, UTC and Furman
0 – Number of those teams App State has played so far
0 – Number of App State wins against a team which currently has a record above .500 (Well, the Stink used to be above .500)

81 – Number of Furman wins in the past 10 season, second most in SoCon
36 – Number of Furman wins in the past 5 seasons, second most in SoCon
13 – Number of Furman wins in the past 2 seasons, fourth most in SoCon (Another great program hitting a soft spell)

5 – Number of SoCon teams averaging more than 10,000 fans a home game – App State, Ga. Southern, The Citadel, Furman and UTC
4 – Number of those teams seeing an increase in attendance from last season – All but Ga. Southern, which is down just 465 a game
2 – Number of those teams seeing an increase in attendance from the 2007 season – App State and The Citadel (Furman is down an average of 1,184 fans a game since then)

TIM TEBOW WEARS ARMANTI EDWARDS PAJAMAS!

I think he has a shot at the 1,865 needed to become #2. If we can put a run in the playoffs together, all of those extra games count towards his career total.

In a best case scenario, we have 8 games left, and he would only have to average around 233 total yards per game to accomplish it.

Oh, it’s a long way to Greenville
Goin’ south on 85
With Armanti ridin’ shotgun
Pistols loaded at his side
Goin’ there to take on Furman
And strip them of their pride

I don’t like scoring TDs in less than 2min. Don’t get me wrong, I like the big play, but I also like to rest our defense through the course of the game.

That said, I’m ok with scoring every 2 min and then holding them to 3&out!

AE alone has better offense numbers than a bunch of other teams total team offense. That’s insane.

Beat Furman!

elon isn’t getting 10K fans a game? lame.

Comment by Gwaltineer 10.30.09 @ 1:33 pm

Just a though:
If Appinator is right and best case we have 8 games left, and if AE maintains his current YPG average for those 8 games, then he should finish 4th all time in total yards, Division I, II, or III.
