52 – Rushing yards needed by Edwards to break 4,000 yards rushing for his career
115 – Rushing yards needed by Edwards to become No. 9 all-time in rushing yards in the SoCon (Inevitable, right?)

195.5 – Average rushing yards for Wofford in its two games against FBS foes
151 – Rushing yards for Wofford in its 29-point loss to UTC (We’re so confused)

70 – Points scored by App State in its 2008 game against Wofford, a season high
31 – Points scored by App State in its 2007 game against Wofford, a season low
14 – Points scored by App State in its 2006 game against Wofford, a season low (Was 2008 a fluke, or the new norm?)

6 – Sacks recorded against App State this season
5 – Sacks recorded against Wofford this season
23 – Sacks recorded against Georgia Southern this season (Couldn’t resist)

8 – Number of App State field goals so far this season
8 – Number of App State field goals all last season
0 – Number of Wofford field goals this season (They’re 0-fer two)

17 – Number of App State TD drives, among 20, to take less than four minutes to complete, 85%
8 – Number of Wofford TD drives, among 13, to take less than four minutes to complete, 62%
4 – Number of Wofford TD drives to take more than six minutes to complete (They can occasionally eat some clock)

14 – Number of consecutive App State SoCon wins
7 – Number of consecutive App State home SoCon wins
8 – Number of consecutive App State road SoCon wins (And the last loss was … /drumroll .. at Wofford)

68.5 – Average points scored per game during the 2007 SoCon football season
52.3 – Average points scored per game during the 2008 SoCon football season
39.7 – Average points scored per game so far this SoCon football season (Better D? or sloppier O?)

11,042 – Reported attendance for the 2007 App State at Wofford game
30,931 – Reported attendance for the 2008 Wofford at App State game, a school record (Mind boggling)

wow, just looking at those numbers, you’d have no idea we’re a mediocre team doomed to a 6-5 season…

Comment by Dan 10.16.09 @ 11:05 am

This is an open blog, right? So, we are open to saying anything we want, right? So, Dan has a right to say just ridiculous comments, right?

That means, I get to type what I want!!

You really think we’ll go 6-5? Give me a break. I’ll give you this…we could easily lose a couple more games this year. We have our work cut out of us this weekend and for the rest of the season. Furman will give us their best. GSU will too. Chatt is up-and-coming, and Elon is damn good. But we have a defense that has shown signs of being great (see 3rd and 4th qtrs at ECU). We have an offense that can score on anyone (if we can clean up the stupid penalties). We have to take “one game at a time”, but we’re a hellova lot better than 6-5.

Comment by Jason 10.16.09 @ 11:40 am

I think he was being sarcastic.

Comment by Skjellyfetti 10.16.09 @ 11:45 am

“We get a pretty good bang for our tucks.”<== Win.

Comment by LucasA 10.16.09 @ 11:48 am

I think the whole point of statistics is to explain to haters like Dan that we are NOT a mediocre team. What stats do you have to back up these 6-5 allegations? None? That’s what I thought, because all of the numbers (see above) point to a great team that destined for yet another great season.

Comment by ASUPhan 10.16.09 @ 11:50 am

thank you skjelly….

Comment by Dan 10.16.09 @ 11:54 am

Dan, I am pretty sure, was “hating” on all the “haters” who keep saying we are awful…

Comment by Joe 10.16.09 @ 11:55 am

Fair Enough. Replace “Dan” with whichever hater you please……

Comment by ASUPhan 10.16.09 @ 11:59 am

Ditto, ASUPhan!

Comment by Jason 10.16.09 @ 12:14 pm

There’s a big difference between an ignorant hater who’s just venting his frustration at the teams’ two loses and episodic poor play, and a realistic fan who wants the team to play well and win but recognizes problems when he sees them.

What we have this year is a potentially great team that has not yet put it all together. There’s nothing wrong with fans discussing the problems we have and what we ought to do about them–that’s what knowledgable fans do. For those who just want to rant, well, it’s a free country, so I suppose you can do that too.

But if all you want to see here is boasting, whoo-hoo comments, you’re going to have a pretty boring blog.

Comment by Carbine 10.16.09 @ 12:15 pm

By the way, the Gridiron Power Index has us at #19 in the land. Elon is ranked #8.

Comment by Carbine 10.16.09 @ 12:20 pm

18.6 pts per game and 15 in the SoCon are numbers I will be keeping in mind tomorrow. We know Wofford is down this season and we know our defense hasn’t played to potential. Holding the Terriors to under 20 points would be a big step in the right direction. I’d be happy holding them under 25.

Comment by Keith 10.16.09 @ 1:11 pm

Dan shut up…If we win there is no reason to sit here and whine about anything. We’re not just gonna cake walk to the nat championship, we’re only normal bud…remember that

Comment by T-Money 10.16.09 @ 1:13 pm

There are a lot of folks here that need an adjustment to the sensitivity of their sarcasm meter.

Comment by Chet Steadman 10.16.09 @ 1:44 pm

Plain text isn’t exactly the best format for recognizing sarcasm.

Comment by ASUPhan 10.16.09 @ 1:59 pm

someone needs to invent a sarcasm font.

Comment by Dan 10.16.09 @ 2:00 pm

Hmmm….. Italic?

Comment by ASUPhan 10.16.09 @ 2:02 pm

actually, it doesn’t even matter since we can’t alter the fonts on these posts anyway.

Comment by Dan 10.16.09 @ 2:17 pm

Fonts can be altered, but it has to be done in HTML

Comment by Chet Steadman 10.16.09 @ 2:24 pm

fantastic. guess who doesn’t have that capability at work?

Comment by Dan 10.16.09 @ 2:29 pm

How about from now on I just assume that Dan is being sarcastic…..

Comment by ASUPhan 10.16.09 @ 2:46 pm

How skinny is number 35 for app in that picture? cant be more than 150…

Comment by parking lot 10.16.09 @ 3:27 pm

Actually 35 looks heavier than AE in most shots…

Only hours to GO……

Comment by Pete 10.16.09 @ 3:35 pm

Naysayer, I’m going to let you finish but, Dan is the worst commmenter of all time!

Comment by clayton 10.16.09 @ 3:52 pm

I DID IT!

Unanswered points is the key to the game.

Comment by clayton 10.16.09 @ 3:54 pm

glad to know i have taken the title from naysayer.

Comment by Dan 10.16.09 @ 5:19 pm

Clayton, still have your aviators?

Comment by Joe 10.16.09 @ 5:43 pm

Dude, I lost them again. But, its cool. Doesn’t count for away games.

Comment by clayton 10.16.09 @ 5:54 pm

Funny thing. I picked up the sarcasm right away. And I find myself agreeing with Dan most of the time. It’s the newbie fans who are most sensitive. Haven’t been around long enough to 1) understand football; 2) understand the up-and-down nature of college teams (FSU anyone?) or 3) exhibit enough maturity to know that one can be a critical observer and still be a fan. So like you know you like youngsters like lighten up or like chill, okay dude?

Comment by appnaysayer 10.16.09 @ 5:59 pm

A lot of our fans have become jaded too.

Comment by yosef83 10.16.09 @ 6:19 pm

parking lot – My vision isn’t what it used to be, but I don’t see a #35 in that pic. Did you mean #25? If so, that’s Jared Reine, a Jr. DB. He’s listed at 6-1, 185 lbs. in this past Saturday’s ASU program.

Comment by yosef83 10.16.09 @ 6:25 pm

Test to see if HTML Really does work…

Comment by AppStudent 10.16.09 @ 6:39 pm

Test 2
Test 3
Test 4

Comment by AppStudent 10.16.09 @ 6:40 pm

Bold i’mz a geniouz

Comment by AppStudent 10.16.09 @ 6:41 pm

Arial font works?

Comment by AppStudent 10.16.09 @ 6:42 pm

oh well, anyway … 25 is our DB Reines *sp who hates being physical and cant tackle well….

Why does he still start? ask Mr. John Wiley…

Why is Mr. John Wiley Still there? I have NO IDEA

Wow this showing emphasis stuff is really effective!

Comment by AppStudent 10.16.09 @ 6:46 pm

see what you’ve started, Chet.

Comment by Dan 10.16.09 @ 7:18 pm

Well Jared starts because McDuffie hasn’t picked up on the new position as quickly as I’d have liked. I hope to work McDuffie onto the field as the season progresses.

I guess I’m still here because Jerry and Charlie think I’m a pretty good coach. Several of the scores my D has allowed came on short fields and players’ blown assingments. Couple that with Cobb has yet to receive your application for the defensive coordinator position.

Comment by John Wiley 10.16.09 @ 9:12 pm

Nice Try!
