Tuesday August 18th 2009, 4:09 pm

Snap to it!
With 17 days until kickoff, we’re gonna try to focus daily on a different App we can’t wait to see in action!

NO. 57 – BRETT IRVIN

POSITION: Offensive lineman, last year’s starter at center.

VITALS: 6-0, 275 pounds. Junior.

CAREER STATS: Has played 28 career games, starting in 16. All starts were at center except one – his second – at tight end against Georgia Southern in 2007.

MOORE PRAISE: Coach considers Irvin the “most underrated player” not only on the team but in SoCon.

DEPEND ON IT: Irvin started at center for all 14 games last season, and was part of the first App State O-line since 1989 to feature a regular starting five for every game.

ALL-TIME DEBUT: As a redshirt freshman, started the first college game he ever played – at Michigan. Completed 72 snaps while protecting AE. The rest is history.

IT’S A MAGIC NUMBER: As a freshman he helped App State win a third title. It was also his third, joining his two SC 4-A state titles from high school.

FROM TEAMMATE TO TERRIER: In high school, Irvin played with current Wofford wide receiver standout Andy Strickland.

Gaffney has a peach but, it looks like a butt.

One of my best friends from Shelby, Ken Howell, started at offensive guard for Georgia Tech for four years in the late 70s and early 80s. I told him about Irvin’s start against Michigan. He thought it was amazing that the quarterback of the offensive line started against Michigan and basically had no college experience. Great performance!

Right on, kelly. BI stepped right into the mix and more than held his own. Has been an outstanding player at one of the toughest and important positions on the entire field from day one.
