We had no idea Back in Black was so well loved and missed. It’s doubtful it will ever return, as the stadium entrance seems to vary now season to season.
We think it’s fair to say we have few unique football traditions (such as the kickoff anthem), and we always thought 3rd Down Hells Bells was solely ours. But when UNC recently lucked out beat Notre Dame, we distinctly heard Hells Bells being played on third down.
Our friends in Greenville also ring them, though it started around 2006.
We read that Ohio State, Michigan State, West Virginia and even the Oakland Raiders do it.
The bells also differ. While we’re playing this one, it would appear others are going this route.
Regardless, none sound as intimidating as the bells heard in the ‘Whee. Now this is a bell from hell!
I’m suprised you haven’t written a blog about how close the JMU game was against villi. JMU won it with a toss up resembling the 500 pts game. Once again they lucked out.

Comment by Jamey 10.28.08 @ 3:18 pmHaven’t been to a game in a couple of seasons and am disappointed to hear they STILL haven’t upgraded the PA system at KBS. That has to be one of the sorriest PAs I’ve ever seen/heard; I’ve been to high school stadiums that have much better systems than that POS.
SURELY upgrading the PA is part of the master plan for The Rock, right?!

I have to agree that we have gotten spoiled with all of the improvements, but the sound would be a great way to bring the level up even more.

Makes sense that they would wait–I’m sure a lot of the logistics in getting the new system installed depend on the completion of the new press box.
