Here’s all App has to do. Create THIS kinda environment.

Capel the younger gets first job almost like Capel the elder. “It’s a bit reckless to suggest now that his brother, Jason, can’t succeed.”
From the hometown paper. “Capel said it’s unlikely he’ll do any more recruiting for the coming season. Appalachian has four new players entering the program and one more scholarship available.”
Pretty. Twinkle, twinkle, giant Rock.
AE’s “weakness”. “Lack of height will cause many teams to pass on him. Ability to handle jump in competition and grasp complexities of pro game a concern if he’s to succeed.”
Actually, AE is a stud! We will WANT, nah NEED, to buy that game.
FCSers ready for primetime. The usual candidates.

The ‘Whee finally gets a huge D1 win!!! “The vacated results in football cover parts of three seasons: 2007: Western Carolina.”

Meanwhile, down at the Stink. “Adam Urbano, GSU’s leading rusher in 2009, decided to leave the team Monday morning.”
Meet the new DC at Middle Tennessee. “I played here at Middle Tennessee in a playoff game when I was a junior at Appalachian State in 1989.”
The rare true student-athlete. “App State senior first baseman David Towarnicky plans to spend the summer in Germany – instead of playing baseball. He will study the business culture of the European Union.”
This better mean we get an annual series. Pirates nab a Heel.
Highlights from Marshall. First you must suffer through the “witty” intro.
There’s that “D” word again. “If you miss the cut for the NCAA tournament, but still play hard enough to win, you deserve to be a champion.”

Bungled. “They’ve got to be kicking themselves for cutting Corey Lynch.”
It’s just that easy! “Other board members talked about how the addition of football was a logical step for the rapidly growing campus and noted that fundraising at Appalachian State’s now-championship football program accelerated once the program was approved and construction started on the stadium.”
Speaking of money in college football. “NCAA statistics showed that nearly 80 percent of the 120 athletic programs that sponsor major-college football reported operating deficits in the 2007-08 school year.”

Hump’ed day. Ugh.
AE is interesting. Nice company there.
Who will coach against App State? We really have nothing to say on this, other than we hope he’s okay.
Some recruiting news. For what it’s worth.
Uh-oh. “The repeated inactivity of Murrell, a big contributor on special teams, remains a mystery but I’m told he and special teams coach Mike Westhoff don’t see eye to eye.”
Christmas in Boone. It was pretty awful.
More on McNeil. “Texas Tech is currently ranked second nationally in total sacks with 40 and that number ties the school’s single season record.”

Griz loses defensive coach. No interview for the head job, so he heads elsewhere.
Speaking of Montana. “About 1.5 million households tuned in to the Grizzlies’ FCS championship game against Villanova on Dec. 18. Montana lost 23-21 but it was the highest rated FCS championship since 1994.”

AE talks future. “If the NFL sees me at a different position, I am willing to try,” Edwards said. “Hopefully, though, I can also get a chance to show what I can do at quarterback.”
A sweet Christmas wish. “Go after Appalachian State quarterback Armanti Edwards and give him a chance to run the Wildcat offense with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.”
The dumbest “argument” ev-ah. His number WILL be retired. Period. No debate. It’s just a matter of when.
No. 3. Fifth straight final poll App State ranked in top 5.
Start the new year off right. In case you don’t get what you really want.
A record 10,651 tickets were sold locally. That’s a lot of disappointed scalper fans of App State.
Furple goes for the Notre Dame excuse. “Furman football coach Bobby Lamb concedes that maintaining strict academic standards handicaps schools like Furman in the recruiting race against less selective schools in the Southern Conference and in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision.”
Flyers trump Apps. “The Flyers were playing without three of their top four scorers, and their normal 11-man rotation was chopped to eight.”
More on the end of Hofstra. “A lot of guys just stayed outside, and talked, and cried. I went to my car and cried, and called my dad.”
Hatch Attack lands at Murray State. More big shoes to fill.
Is Montana next to lose coach? Hmmmm. (UPDATE – Bye-bye Griz)
