No bus, no problem. “UMaine is scheduled to practice again Thursday before departing Bangor on Friday morning via a charter jet.”
Mem … oh .. rees … “All he remembers is how he felt walking off the field at the end of the game on that late November day in 2002. He was flying.”
Damn. “The 49ers released safety Mark LeGree from the practice squad.”

Uh-oh. He picks App State to win.
In other deep foreshadowing, dem dar Bears gotta lotta fight in ‘em.
However, the Black Bears are a solid road team and have experience flying from Orono. Of Maine’s six road games, the team has flown to five and has posted a 4-0 record against FCS teams after boarding a flight. In addition to its expertise in traveling, Maine also could be considered an expert in fourth- quarter execution, . . . → Read More: Couple previews to App State-Maine

Ready – “D.J. Smith went through his normal pregame routine on Thanksgiving Day, including calling his mother. She told him to play hard and to be ready because you never know what could happen. “I was like, ‘I love you, Mom,’” the Packers’ rookie inside linebacker said. “‘I’m going to play good for you.’” Yes. Yes, he did.” Smith likely will be the starter if either Bishop or Hawk is unable to play. “Doesn’t change my mentality,” Smith . . . → Read More: “Do what I do best”

Blackout – “This is new to me. I’ve never seen this [exclusivity] before. It’s very exclusive. This has caused a lot of unhappiness on our behalf. It’s a bummer.” The only playoff game to be broadcast on traditional TV will be the championship. The rest of the FCS postseason is basically going the way of a 117-year-old rivalry. Panthers might be down a WR. You know what that might mean – “LaFell will start alongside Steve Smith if Naanee is out, with Armanti Edwards and Seyi Ajirotutu splitting the reps at the No. 3 receiver spot.” Panthers face winless Colts is a must, must win game. (Pride is important). Sticks and Broncos at San Diego, Superman and the Bucs at Titans.

Hey Mr. DJ had a better Thanksgiving than you.
He gave ‘em hell!
Injuries to starting inside linebackers Desmond Bishop and A.J. Hawk might open the door for rookie D.J. Smith to start for the Packers starting in Week 13. Smith replaced Bishop in the first half of the team’s game on Thursday at Detroit and finished with six total tackles. Not only was Smith impressive in the game, but head coach Mike McCarthy lauded him for his . . . → Read More: Carving up Lions, feasting on opportunity

It’s no secret that, top to bottom, this edition of an App State playoff team is not as powerful as previous iterations.
But that doesn’t mean it isn’t as capable to win some big games. You’re only as weak as your strongest link.
How good this 8-3 team can be hasn’t been determined. Offensive production has been down compared to recent ASU teams. The defense seems improved and has turned in stellar performances in recent weeks — against . . . → Read More: Confident but vulnerable

Interesting – “Mountaineers don’t plan to beat themselves. Their 48 penalties are the fewest among the playoff teams. At less than 4.4 per game, they rank sixth in FCS. Opponents struggle to pass against Maine. Buoyed by both a strong pass rush and secondary, they lead the CAA in passing D (190 ypg) and are second in pass defense efficiency (112.3) and INTs (17).” Maine gave up just one 300-yard passing game (301 vs. Richmond) and just two . . . → Read More: Number crunching the playoff field
