The 54-member CAA is pushing a pretty novel concept for FCS football.

You know how guys currently only get four years of eligibility to play? How about we kick that up a notch? Say …. five years.

Starting this fall SoCon football enters the realm of fluffy little clouds and Martha Speaks.

Some people complained when WUNC-TV aired vintage episodes of “Twilight Zone.”

But at least you could make the case that the very best “Zone” episodes were classic TV, and some of the best-written and -acted stuff you’ll find anywhere.

David Jackson, the man who emits the sounds coming out your radio on gamedays, did a live chat last week. Among the topics he discussed was the 2012 slate.

As of today, just one non-SoCon team scheduled.

Two Apps will miss season

Hiatus – “Linebacker Justin Wray and running back Rod Chisholm of Appalachian State will sit out the 2011 season, coach Jerry Moore announced Friday. Wray will have shoulder surgery this summer and take a redshirt year. Chisholm will not participate in game action after falling short of meeting NCAA academic requirements.” Wray will have two years left, Chisholm just one,
